Red Light Therapy FAQs

1. What is red light therapy and how does it work?

Red light therapy is a non-invasive method used to stimulate cellular repair, reduce inflammation, improve skin health, and enhance overall wellbeing. It works by delivering wavelengths of red and near-infrared light deep into the skin and muscle tissues. This light is absorbed by mitochondria in the cells, boosting the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), enhancing cellular energy, promoting healing, and reducing inflammation.

2. What conditions does red light therapy treat?

Red light therapy is versatile, treating conditions such as skin aging (wrinkles, fine lines), acne, muscle pain, joint pain, inflammation, recovery from injuries, improvement in circulation, and even mood disorders like seasonal affective disorder (SAD).

3. What are the side effects of red light therapy?

Red light therapy is generally considered safe with minimal risks. Some users may experience temporary redness or irritation at the treatment site, but serious side effects are rare. It’s important to use the therapy as directed and consult with a healthcare provider if you have concerns.

4. How often should I use red light therapy?

Generally, treatments might range from 2-3 times a week to daily sessions, with each session lasting 30 minutes for Celluma targeted treatments, and up to 20 minutes for full-body treatments like the Advantage 900. Consistency and following a recommended schedule are key for seeing results.

5. How should I prepare for a red light therapy session?

Depending on the area being treated, you may need to expose it directly to the light. We suggest wearing comfortable clothing that can be easily adjusted or removed to access the treatment area and ensuring the skin is clean and free of any lotions or make up. We encourage you to drink plenty of water before and after your treatment to support your body’s natural healing processes.
